Best Club in Dubai 2018basedubai
The best of the city has been revealed at the Time Out Dubai Music & Nightlife Awards 2018 Time Out Dubai Staff
Superstar performers, epic surroundings and packed every night. Enough said
Upon our first visit to BASE in d3 (Dubai Design District), we could see potential.
Upon our second visit to BASE, we could see a popular nightspot that was drawing in massive crowds. Now, a couple of seasons completed since its 2017 opening, BASE is the top nightclub destination in Dubai.
The main reason for that comes down to its ludicrous ambition. When it first elbowed its way onto the scene, BASE brought with it names like 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes and Axwell (from Swedish House Mafia), and continued to bring in top billing artists throughout the winter months too, with 2018 beginning with Jason Derulo and Rita Ora coming to town.
This star pulling-power, coupled with a wildly ambitious venue construct, a monstrous lighting, visuals and audio rig that lurks imperiously over the club, and a devoted and growing fan base of regulars, has put BASE beyond its competitors – purely for the fact that it has just not hung around since opening in April 2017.
Its bar prices are reasonable, entry, on most nights, is free (barring the odd exception), and this amphitheatrical arena is open until 4am.
New nights are constantly being added to the calendar, as to make sure that BASE doesn’t lose its appeal, that new features and concepts keep bringing people back for the odd night when it doesn’t have a superstar name in town.
So if you’re at that point in your night where you know it’s going to be a big one, we can’t think of any better places to go than this right now
Open Thu-Sat 10pm-4am. d3, Ras Al Khor Road (055 313 4999).
A seven-nights-a-week party hotspot that never gets old
As you make your way through the entrance of the super-premium, celebrity laden nightlife hotspot that is Cavalli Club, you feel like you’re entering somewhere with an air of exclusivity.
That’s probably because, as the nightclub franchise from Italian luxury designer Roberto Cavalli, you are. As the only major nightclub in Dubai that’s open seven days a week, you’ll never be short of an option for a good night out if you’re landed in the middle of Dubai on a Monday, desperate to hit the tiles.
Likewise, at the weekend, when this place gets slammed as residents across the city blow off some steam following a marathon nine-to-five (and beyond) effort.
Here, you’ll find top international DJs, you’ll find throwback nights full of ’80s and ’90s pop nostalgia, you’ll find midnight brunches, you’ll find unlimited ladies’ nights, and so much more.
Once you make your way up the fur-lined corridor, through the doors and into this multi-levelled nightclub with aerial dancers hanging from the ceiling – hours have passed before you realise it, and it’s time that you’ve spent very, very well.
Open daily 8.30pm-3am. Fairmont Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road (04 332 9260).
An outdoor supervenue that’s still a top night out
Amid the unrelenting pace of development at Meydan – what with the arrival of Soho Garden and all – WHITE Dubai remains a pillar of nightlife in Dubai.
Perched atop the Meydan Racecourse Grandstand, WHITE Dubai underwent something of a transformation over the winter, and continues to transform every night of the weekend. That’s because, from Thursday to Saturday, the venue changes its layout every night.
So too, does it bring top international talent. UK rap and hip hop star Tinie Tempah runs the Disturbing Dubai night every Friday, and will swing by from time to time to perform a free live gig in the wee hours. Stars from the rap world will fly in for the weekend, and often round off their trip with a performance at URBN on a Saturday night.
Three thousand partygoers can cram into this sizeable Meydan rooftop club, and you’ll frequently find WHITE bursting at the seams, with many of Dubai’s partgoing elite choosing clubs like this to spend an evening. You’ll also bump into the odd celeb vacationing in the city, so get ready to go into selfie mode when the moment comes.
If you’re sizing up your next massive night out – this is among the city’s biggest.
